Kim Jeang-Nam
Abstract
The objects of this study are to examine relation of gratitude, self-mercy, and depression targeting for middle-aged women and verify moderating effect of self-compassion between gratitude and depression. Thus four hundred eighty women aged from forty to sixty four who are living in Busan were examined and four hundred sixty two data are included. Collected questionnaires carry out correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS25.0. The results of research are as follows : First of all, there is a significant correlation as a result of searching connection between gratitude, self-compassion and depression. There is negative relation between gratitude and depression, and between self-compassion and depression. Otherwise, gratitude and self-compassion have positive correlation. Secondly, it was shown that self-mercy has moderating effect on the relationship between gratitude and depression. Consequently, It is highly possible that depression breaks out when middle-aged women who have low degree of gratitude cannot accept their boundaries and have low self-mercy. This suggests that self-compassion has a moderating effect in the relationship between appreciation propensity and depression.
